Birthday

Birthday-

Well since tomarrow is my 33rd bday hubby thinks it is funny to remind me that I am getting yet another year older. Yeah, I laugh my ass off at that thought. The good thing is HE, the comedian, will always be OLDER than me! That does comfort me some. Not enough but some, and that will have to be enough. I figure I will take life as it comes, making the best of everything. Because no matter how bad it might be it can always be worse. At least that is what I tell myself.

This year I have worked hard on looking at myself trying to "know" myself better and understand myself, mind, body and soul. I think I still have alot to look at and understand but I think it will come in time. Having kids, expecially daughters, one of whom is quite like me, which is very scary for me, has helped alot with me learning more about me. That I am thankful for.

My goals for this year are to blog more, continue with my studies for witch school, continue learning more about myself and hopefully accepting myself more, forgiving things I just cant change about myself. Continue loosing weight, I have lost quite a bit but I would still like to loose more. I will hopefully add a tracker to my sidebar or something for that. I will hopefully be at or close to my goal by Samhain of next year. We are planning to go to Maine and Boston for Samhain. We will be taking the girls to Salem too while we are down. We are looking forward to see family there.

Well, I need to get some wedding photos editing today sometime so I better get to work.

Athame

Athame--

A friend of ours makes hand made knives. He is incredible. He made me an athame and it turned out fantastic. I thought I would put some photos on here of what it looks like. I feel so special that he would make this for me.

He even etched in a pentacle.

And a Goddess on the other side!

Athame in its sheath.

Random Shots

Random Shots from the last few days--

You should always start your day off with a smile. This was a breakfast from a couple of days ago.

Today

Today--I will be editing photos all day. I need to get caught up. My deadlines are fast approaching.

I will be putting on my coaches hat today too. Kate has volleyball practice from 6:45 till 8pm. I guess that can be my workout since a workout is soo not in the schedule today. And boy do those girls give me a workout too! I really enjoy it. Of course I've always loved volleyball. We really got our asses handed to us last weekend. The first game is always hard. The girls improve so much over the season. Kate is still doing her hop, skip and jump serve. She even occasionally makes it over the net too. Cassidy has more upper body strength she is so damn good a sports. Lets here it for tomboys! LOL.

I dont think I posted on here that my soap DID turn out! I am so excited. Orange Peel Lavender. It smells so good too. I put fresh orange peels and lavender petals in there too. I cant wait to try it! Only 3 more weeks to cure! YAY!

Well better get back to work. Time to blare the Rock Gods on my Ipod to get me motivated. I dont think my neighbors care for it to much but oh well.

Clients

Clients--

Saturday I shot a wedding at the Mason Park in Tekamah. It was very small and we loved it there. It is a place we would like to rent for the weekend and go out with friends, have some beers and play. It turned out very nice once it got started.

She asked us to be there about 2 to take some formal portraits, we were there about 1:35, you never never keep a client waiting, the gate was locked so we had to wait for someone to show up to unlock it. About 2 someone did show up to unlock it.... Not the bride and groom but her cousin did. She didn't show up until 2:45 and she wasn't even dressed! The wedding was supposed to start at 3, yeah it didn't, it started at about 4. Once it got started it went fast. Portrait sessions went quickly too, everyone was ready. Got to the reception hall and they were still setting up. No DJ was even there and she said she booked one. I know things happen at your wedding that you dont expect or you dont plan on but it was like nothing was planned at all.

My wedding packages are 4 hours long. But I always throw in a extra hour or two for dressing or formal portraits. We did leave a 7:30, but didn't get any dancing or garter throws. When we left they were wondering around and starting to clear out the table. The DJ was still not set up and from what I understand she was looking for him. I was really bummed it wasn't more planned out. Usually when we shoot wedding we get to the reception and the DJ is playing. The DJ announced the wedding party and you sit down to eat. Not at this wedding though. I would have loved to capture more of the partying after the wedding. But she wasn't willing to pay for the extra hours. POOH!

Senior showed up 20-25 mins late for her session and I had her sessions timed out so we could spend 45 min in studio and 45 min outside to get the perfect light. Since she showed up late her outdoor session didn't turn out to well, so I will be shooting her again I believe on Sunday at 8 am. (sigh)

This state is so weird. Growing up in CA I was always taught that if you say you are going to be somewhere at a certain time you are there by that time or you call. Here people that are 15-20 mins late are "on time". But when you book an appt. you pay for the time you are booked, no more. Yeah, I wish it worked that way. LOL We as business owners, especially small business owners, have to rearrange or redo our schedule. Oh well, I guess it's a choice. But sometimes it is a bit frustrating...

Going to finish my tea and spend my time with Billy Blanks, then up to edit photos.

Sarah Bday

Well, for the most part she already had her present. But we did do a little something special for her bday. We took her out to dinner at our local favorite dinner place, Keiffers, then came home and had some cake. I made her wait until after cake to open presents. Yes that is right, I made her wait all day until after dinner to open her presents. I know, I am mean. Well, all except for the bike. That she got last weekend, couldn't hide it from her. It was the only Hannah Montana bike we could find. Here are some snapshot of our big girl on her 7th bday on 9-9-09.

And here is why I can never get any work done. It is all his fault. Damn Truth! LOL

Cancer Survivors Park

Last night we had out healing circle at the Omaha Cancer Survivors Park. This circle was for Barb, she is fighting her way through cancer. She goes through her last treatment on Sept. 24th. I told her that that day is lucky because it is my birthday! Anyway it was a nice ritual, very simple, but very effective. It is nice that I have found such a wonderful group to be apart of. Our energies mesh so well.

On the very long way home, 50 minutes to be exact, for the 3rd time in less than a year a deer almost hit me. When I told a friend of mine she asked me "What does it take to get a message across to me"? She told me I should look and try to find out what it means to have a deer totem animal. Well, I looked it up and this is what it means: Compassion, Peace, Intellectual, Gentle, Caring, Kind, Subtlety, Gracefulness, Femininity, Gentleness, Innocence and Seller of Adventure. What do you think is it me? Well, I am definitely NOT graceful that is for sure. But maybe. I have never thought that a deer could be my totem. I never really gave totem animals a thought. But a deer??? I have never been drawn to deer. If anything I would think it would be some kind of cat. I have always been drawn to cats of all kinds. But I guess it is a possibility.

Today...
When the girls got home from school today I was elbow deep into photo editing, my girls went outside to play on the tire swing. The next thing I know Cassidy is running upstairs telling me that Kates lip is bleeding and that her tooth pushed through her lip. I thought oh goddess what has happened now. Well, sure enough I go down stairs and she does have a cut on her lower lip from where one of her teeth came through her lip. On the inside of her lip she has two cuts. I guess she was pushing a girl on the swing and went to answer her friends cell phone, not paying attention to the girl she was pushing, she came back and hit her in face.... So we have her putting ice on her lip so it doesn't swell too much. She will probably have a little scar. Well, I guess she learned a lesson, or at least I hope she did. While we were icing it she tells me it didn't hurt until she touched it and saw the blood, then it started to hurt really bad and she started to panic. Yeah, that is how it always happens, I told her. Right now she seems to be fine. Lets hope for nothing to horrid in the morning.
